Betrayed
Ednah Walters
Guardian Legacy # 1
Young Adult, Paranormal Fiction
Paperback: 368 pages
Publisher: Firetrail Publishing
Release Date: July 12, 2011
Overall Rating: 4.5/5

Lil has come to terms with her life as a Guardian/demon hunter and the wielder of the Nephilim most powerful weapon. She trains everyday to master her growing powers, gets along with her Guardian trainee friends (most of the time) and cherishes her moments with her human friends.

Just when she feels she belongs, her nature-bender father contacts her and warns her about a betrayal by someone close to her. Then Bran, the guy she loves, starts to act strange and one of her human friends acquires a supernatural ability. While Lil struggles find a connection between these three things, she begins to realize that someone is manipulating her and Bran, and will stop at nothing (including hurting those she loves) to lure them to the dark side.

Lil, Bran, and the rest of the gang is back.

This book picks up where the last one left off, and though Lil thought things would go back to normal or as close to normal as possible things never happen the way we went them to. Lil never doubted the fact that she and Bran would be together forever at least until now. He’s distant, he’s put up a shield against Lil’s psi powers, and he goes away without saying a word. What could he do doing and what does that mean for the two of them.

There were so many subplots that made up this one big plot it was truly amazing. Every time I thought I had something figured out the book proved me wrong and honestly I loved that. Lil had all these things to figure out and with her father planting the seeds of doubt in her head she had a lot to deal with.

This book was great all around, I loved everything about it. The plot was flawless and strong, it flowed steadily and even the buildup was great. What I loved the most was the characters and how they developed. The characters old and new were great, they seemed so believable and many a times I found myself saying how I would do or say something a character did or said.

The book was fast paced, filled to the teeth with action and kept you guessing at every turn. Betrayed was a great book and has me waiting with bated breath for the book three. Ms. Walters does it again with another knock out book.

Almost Final Curtain
Tate Hallaway
Vampire Princess of St. Paul Book Two
Paperback, 273 Pages
Young Adult, Paranormal Fiction
Publisher: Berkley Books
Release Date: May 3, 2011
Overall Rating: 4/5 stars

Ever since Anastasija Parker found out she was a vampire princess, her life has been crazier than normal.  No longer just a witch trying to past her Initiation, as they say been there failed that. Now she’s the half-vampire- half-witch trying to find a small amount of balance between the two sides of her life that want to kill each other. There’s nothing more Ana wants than to be normal and trying out for the spring musical seems like the perfectly normal thing to do. Thought that’s about the only normal thing going on in her life right about now. Ana has a lot of her plate this time around she’s still trying to figure out how to be both vampire and witch (who are mortal enemies by the way), she’s a little sure how to handle her things with her sometimes, maybe boyfriend Nikolai (Nik) Kirov, vampire hunter in training, and rock star. Then there’s Elisa Constantine, her vampire knight fiancée. And if that wasn’t enough to deal with someone has stolen the ancient talisman that stands between vampire freedom and slavery to witches it up to Ana to find it. No one knows what happen to Ana if someone uses it to make the vampires, slaves to the witches once more.

This book pick up where the last left off, Ana is still unsure about a lot of things but she knows that she doesn’t want to be a slave to anyone. If there was a word between love and like I would totally in it with this book. Ms. Hallaway captures Ana and her world perfectly making the reader feel like their apart it and not just on the outside looking in. I could everything and all of the character in my head. Hallaway makes Ana so easy to relate to, even though most people can’t claim to be half vampire half witch (who knows what’s out there) we can understand on some level how Ana is feeling. I find that Ana to be unsure and misunderstood, I don’t think out of all of the character in the book no ones tries to see things from Ana’s point of view. No one realizes how hard things are for her and how well she’s handling things. I like that Ana is trying to learn more about herself from people on both sides. This was a really good book and a must read for anyone, who loves great reads.
