I must say that I find television very educational. The minute somebody turns it on, I go to the library and read a book. --Groucho Marx

T.G.I.F (38)

TGIF is a fun little feature hosted by Ginger @ GReads! Every week we re-cap what has happened on the blog plus Ginger asks a question for us to answer. This week’ question is: Best I’ve Read So Far: We’re halfway through the year (crazy how time flies!), which top 3 books are the best you’ve read so are this year?
As always Ginger asked a very good question.

Love this question.

Seriously hard!!!! As of right now I’ve read 218 books this year and there are some really good one. Now I’ve went through all of the books and keeping up with only three is so hard. I narrowed it down to my nine favorites. Now picking only three of the nine, so hard!!

Otherkin by Nina Berry.

Amazing. The action started right away and didn’t let up at all. I did not put this book down at all. I started and didn’t stop until I was finished. My review is the on the way but this book might be my favorite book of the year, or maybe even all time.

Deity by Jennifer L. Armentrout.

Book three in the Covenant series and the best one yet. I can’t give anything away because it isn’t out yet. But seriously if you haven’t read this series yet, DO IT!!!!

Someone Else’s Fairytale by E.M. Teppetts

I loved this book! Honestly it was seriously good. It wasn’t just some fluffy, cute book about a girl and movie star. It was everything! I just loved it, mainly because it surprised me and rarely does a book that anymore. You can check out my review of it here.

The rest of the nine

Dark Frost by Jennifer Estep
Sweet Evil by Wendy Higgins
Here Be Sexist Vampire by Suzanne Wright
Feral Sins by Suzanne Wright
Easy by Tammara Webber

Waiting on Wednesday: Just For Fins

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

JUST FOR FINS BY  TERA LYNN CHILDS
HARDCOVER 272 Pages
Fins Book 3
Young Adult, Science Fiction & Fantasy
Publisher: Katherine Tegen Books
July 3rd 2012

From Goodread:

When Lily Sanderson decided to remain Crown Princess Waterlily of the mermaid kingdom Thalassinia, she knew she couldn’t just coast along in the current. But since she’s spent the last couple of years on land—with gorgeous human Quince by her side—Lily’s not sure she has the fins to lead a kingdom. Even her maddeningly pretentious cousin Dosinia seems to know more about ruling than she does.
But Lily has to dive in deep to keep her promise to Tellin, her mer bond in name only, whose kingdom is suffering in the changing ocean climate. Lily knows this is a seven seas–sized problem: from sea animals dying to oil spills and threats to humans. They’ll need to create some serious waves to make the mer community aware and get it to join together to make things right. Even if that means facing one of the iciest queens in the mer kingdoms.
Just when Lily thinks her double life on land and sea can’t get any more complicated, an ancient mer law might separate Lily and Quince after all. It feels as if the pair is up against a solid tsunami wave!

In this third installment in the series that began with Forgive My Fins and Fins Are Forever, Lily will have to find a way to balance safety and justice for the mer people as well as for the humans she loves.

This week my tune is a good message song.

Is Anybody Out There? by K’NAAN ft Nelly Furtado

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading.

Anyone can play along by doing the following. Grab your current read open to a random page and share two “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page.

Please no spoilers (make sure what you shared doesn’t give away too much! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!) Share the title & author, so that other TT participants can add to their TBR list of they like your teaser!

Dad shrugged. “A little apocalypse never caused permanent damage. Heck, my brother God threw a temper tantrum years ago and flooded the mortal plane. People called it the end of the world at the time, but what do you know, humanity made a comeback with the help of that Noah fellow.”

50% Hell’s Revenge (Princess of Hell #3) by Eve Langlais

“You cannot live in fear forever. After I accidentally killed Remy’s father, I was crazy with grief for a long time. And when Jacko came along, I also didn’t want to let myself love. But he wore me down, and now, even though I’m still insane, I couldn’t be happier.” Remy’s mother beamed. “Oh and my husband says thank you for getting me up to date on the latest fashion trend. He loves my new pantyless state.”

Echo Review

Jamie McDougall
Ebook Format
Publisher: CreateSpace
ISBN: 9-781-46366-404-6
Release Date: July 15 2011
Overall Rating: 4/5

Running from a nightmare stalking her every move, Phoebe Martin arrives in Echo Falls hoping she has finally found a safe place to stop. But trouble has a way of catching up and soon the signs are there.
After a vicious attack in an alley, policeman Aidan O'Bryan is left with Phoebe as his only path to understanding why the Echo Falls werewolf pack - his pack - is being attacked. When another pack member is killed, Phoebe is forced to confront her past before she loses Aidan and everything she has come to love.
Love and duty become one as Aidan strives to prevent Phoebe from becoming the next victim. But with Phoebe just as determined to protect Aidan and her new home, secrets from her past threaten to tear them apart.
Will love give Phoebe the strength to trust Aidan and face her fears, or will her past destroy her future?
As soon as you start the book you’re already threw into the fray, your heart pumps faster as the main character Phoebe runs for her life from an unknown enemy. It was great the way the book started, though a bit unexpected. Arriving in Echo Falls Phoebe is running from something in her past as well as something chasing her. She’d saved by Aidan alpha of the wolf pack and can I just say. . .yum I want one. From there we meet a few key members of the pack. Though we don’t get to really know them all. We also meet Mia, can I just say eww. She’s your typical mean girl, who deep down hates herself more than she hates you.
I love shifters, which was the reason I wanted to read this book and I’m glad I did. Echo Falls as a whole was really good and fast paced. Each character had a specific role they had to play in the story, and it was easy to figure out what roles was being played and by whom. I really liked that fact that when you thought it was going one way it went the other, though there were things that were easy to predict, but that didn’t take away from the story. A suspense thriller with a supernatural take that made me never want to put it down. There’s action, secrets, murder, and romance so do yourself a favor and read this book.

So why is she so nervous? It probably has something to do with the insanity that happens when you deal with shifters—especially sexy ones who come bearing promises of easy jobs and easier money.

Or maybe it’s all the other missing kids that Kit discovers while working the case, or the way her gut keeps screaming she’s gotten in over her head. Or maybe it’s because if she fails—she’s dead.
If she can stay just one step ahead, she should be okay. Maybe she’ll even live long to collect her fee…

Mind Games  by Harper Alexander

RECRUITED...

I have never known anything but the quaint legacy of Candleshire. As Mrs. Larkley would put it, "a homestead of community where everyone knows everyone".
I never prepared myself for a stranger in our midst. Someone who wouldn't knock. Someone who wouldn't stay for tea. Someone we wouldn't see at all.
But someone who would leave a most peculiar footprint. You've never seen anything like the silent brand I awoke to, marked by some stealthy artist in the night, tattooed without a whisper for something not of my making.
I would like to say I didn't wake up one morning victim to a stranger's unleashed conspiracy, harnessed for unknown treachery beyond my capacity.

But it would be a lie, if I still belonged to a world in which lies carry any weight. ...OR REDEFINED?
