As an Agent of death Madeline Black escorts souls of the dead to the afterlife but that isn’t all that’s going on in Maddy’s life anymore. Things got so much harder when she found out her father was Azazel, bad guys were coming out of the deep end trying to kill her. But that was nothing compared to enemies heading her way now that everyone knows she’s Lucifer’s granddaughter. Maddy has to defend herself from foes coming at her from every angle, people who have scores with settle with both her father and grandfather, family members who want her out of the way. Now on top of that her bodyguard Gabriel, whom she loves and her gargoyle, Beezle who is more like family have both disappeared. If that wasn’t bad enough Maddy is going to other realms for delicate diplomatic missions on behalf of her grandfather, ones that may cost Maddy her life. . .

I loved this book maybe a little more than I loved the first one. Could Maddy’s life get any worse than it was before? Of course it could and it does.

Black Night starts off strong and stayed that way throughout the whole book. On the way home from helping a soul Maddy is attacked by something unknown, and she’s put on alert. Then while she’s with Gabriel and J.B. they come across a dead werewolf. So many things go wrong for Maddy in such a short amount of time that I have no idea how she deals with everything and keeps from falling apart. She’s attacked by some unknown magic, she finds the body of werewolf and she thinks she has a clue who doing it. Her half-brother Antares is trying to kill her at every turn because he hates the fact that she’s been named Azazel’s heir. Not only is Maddy facing werewolves who think she might be the one killing them, nephilim, fallen, and family but now she has to head to the Fae kingdom to handle some negotiations with their ruler Amarantha.  But things never seem to go easy for Maddy. So many things go down in this that I haven’t even covered it all.

I love when I read a book and it keeps me guessing the whole time that makes it so much better for me. And that’s just what Black Night did. I also loved all of the romantic tension in this book, there are three guys in Maddy’s life and I love it. There wasn’t much of Gabriel in this book and while I like him as a person I don’t think it would work between him and Maddy. I mean come on if a man can’t fight for what he wants its time to move on from him. Then there’s Nathaniel who I found myself liking him a lot in more this but he wouldn’t work with Maddy either. And finally there is J.B. who was a jerk but he grew on me and personally I think he would be great for Maddy.

This book was great everything about this book was great, the drama, the good guys, the bad guys, the plot, writing style. Everything. Honestly I loved all the characters, they each bought something unique and special to the storyline. The characters developed really well in this one, you see more of a lot of the characters. You get to see Maddy really grow and become her own woman, she matures and learns her powers and how to use them. No matter what was thrown at her she used her head and came out stronger than before. If I was picking a group of book heroines to become friends with you better believe Maddy would make the cut.

Ms. Henry is definitely one to watch out for and you can bet your ass I’ll be watching, and buying anything she comes out with. I most definitely can’t wait for book three, ii wish I had it in my hands right now.

Wake Unto Me
Lisa Cach
Paperback: 304 Pages
Young Adult, Paranormal Fantasy
Publisher: Speak
ISBN-13: 978-0142414361
Release Date: March 31, 2011
Overall Rating: 5/5 Stars

Caitlin leaves her home and everything she’s even known back in the America to attends a boarding school in France, Chateau de la Fortune. Caitlin a good and plain girl (so she thinks) who goes to school thinking everything would be ordinary and just like every other school, only to realize she was wrong. There are new friends, new divas, love, death, ghost, vivid dreams, and whole bunch of other things you can’t even begin to guess.

I loved this book. Well it did start a little slow in the beginning and I put the book down but when I picked it up again I found that it got faster and better. I found Caitlin to be a great character, she was likeable and not once did I want to punch her in the face (I’ve felt like that before in other books), I found Caitlin someone I could relate to. I mean who hasn’t felt confused or out of place at one time or another. What I really loved about this book was the fact that I couldn’t even guess what was going to happen next, usually I can tell how a book will end but this one had me on my toes, and wrong so many times. Lisa Cach took a cliché (girl goes to new school, finds out there’s something special or different about her. And she falls in love with amazingly handsome boy) and turned in something different, unique, and amazing. I found that in this book the small details that you really don’t care about are the things that make the biggest impact, and are the most important.

I can honestly say the only thing I didn’t like was the fact that I don’t have a Raphael of my own, so I’m a little jealous. Wake Unto Me was more than I had hoped for and I hope there will be a part two. I would recommend this book to anyone, I don’t care what kind of books you normally read, Wake Unto Me is one that you don’t want to miss.

First I was drawn to the book by the beautiful cover then the description. When I opened the book I was sucked in, from the first chapter. I surprised by Calla because now a days in books it’s all about female heroines who meet their dream boy and discover that he is apart a world she thought real only in dreams. And it’s rare to find a main character so unbelievable strong and so young at the same time. From the beginning Calla stole my heart and made me want to find out more about her, I found myself wishing that I was a part of Calla’s world. There were many likable characters in the book, I was rooting for everything to work out the way it was supposed to, but of course things never turn out the way we would like them to.

Calla will become Alpha female of a new pack and mate with Ren who will become Alpha male. This was decided upon their birth and everyone knew this. I love the relationship between the two and I was really for them to make their pack. You can tell that no matter how Calla might fight it she has a strong feelings Ren.

Then in comes Shay a hiker that Calla saved from death. Calla and Shay meet again in school and it is clear that they share a bond, that part I found believable. What I just couldn’t get into was the “love” that they supposedly shared. I could see Calla and Shay having some kind of feelings for each other because of the bond that they share and their search for the truth about Shay’s past but love? No I couldn’t even believable that for half of a second. The Calla/Shay love was a little too forced for me, it was seemed like it was just something added to throw a wrench in Calla and Ren’s relationship. I tried to view the so called “love” between the two from Calla’s point of view and understand it but I just couldn’t.

Aside from that one problem I had with the book I found it amazing, fast paced, and exciting. Usually when I read a book by the time I get to the middle I can tell you what will happen in the end, but when it came to this book I can honestly say that this is probably the second time I have ever been wrong about the ending. So with that being said I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a great book whatever the genre.
