I must say that I find television very educational. The minute somebody turns it on, I go to the library and read a book. --Groucho Marx

Publisher: Flux

From Karen’s Site:

Brock Koeman lost his brother to werewolves. Now he’s in danger of losing himself. Bitten by a werewolf at sixteen, he fights the transformation, taking the excruciating pain as a punishment for his mistakes. With the help of a risky drug called Lycanthrox, he’s managed to stay human for two full moons. But he knows he can’t last much longer.

Hungry for revenge, Brock vows to kill the silver wolf who bit him. But Brock’s ex, the fiery Cynthia Lopez, still cares about him enough not to let him do anything suicidally dangerous—never mind that Cyn gets her thrills from danger herself. Together again, the heat between them rekindles, but Brock feels like a beast beside her beauty. He can’t stay with her; he can’t ignore the werewolves howling outside his window. When he hunts down the pack, Cyn doesn’t sit on the sidelines. She’s right beside him as they get taken hostage and start running with the werewolves, the police hot on their tails. Brock has to get a grip on who he truly is—before the wolf within kills him, or someone else does.

Welcome to the world of Shelby Stewart, P.I., who’s been hired to find Harrison Grant. To complicate matters further, her ex-partner, ex-lover, ex-everything Tank shows up looking for Harrison as well, albeit for a very different reason. That wouldn’t be so bad, but Tank plans on staying at Shelby’s house, and makes it obvious he’s quite willing to help her heat the sheets, again. Shelby knows that sex with Tank is dangerous, fast, and sometimes a little dirty. Now is not the time to become side-tracked. Besides, this job could launch her company into a whole new stratosphere, so it’s imperative she remain focused.

Frustration becomes Shelby’s newest partner as she makes plans to out maneuver Tank in their parallel quest. Tank, on the other hand, is always one step ahead of the game—and is not what, or who, Shelby thought.

Eye Contact (Conditioned Book 1) by Rebecca Royce

Thirty years ago, after the breakdown of an oil negotiation, the President of the United States decided that all people born with unusual abilities, which he would now refer to as “the condition”, would be locked away from the general public where they couldn't harm others. Parents and loved ones of these people, most of whom were children, were forced to turn them in upon penalty of death. Formed to keep the institutions secure, the Committee for the Protection of a Free Society now rules these institutions with an iron fist.

The granddaughter of one the Committee members, Addison Wade has lived her life wary of the institutions and all they represent. A woman of secrets, she is forced to turn to Safe Dawn, one of the facilities designed to hold conditioned people, when her nephew is kidnapped and, despite her best efforts, cannot be recovered. She knows the last thing anyone in 'Safe Dawn' will want to do is to help a Wade with any problems, but she is desperate and out of options.

Spencer Lewis is famous for being the premier conditioned ‘locator.’ There's no one he can't find and he has a soft spot for missing children. But, Spencer has been through a trauma and locating Jeremy Wade may be dangerous both to himself and to those around him. In addition, he takes one look at ice cold Addison Wade and wants nothing more than to knock her down a peg. Never having turned down an opportunity to help a child, he reluctantly agrees to help recover Jeremy.

In a world where nothing is as it seems and every person they encounter has his own agenda, Addison and Spencer will find that the only people they can trust are each other. But how can anyone fall in love living in a world that wants you dead just for being born?

T.G.I.F (8)

TGIF is a fun little feature hosted at Ginger @ GReads! Every week we re-cap what has happened on the blog plus Ginger asks a question for us to answer. This week’s question is:

Book Associations: Which genre, authors, or particular books do you think people associate with your reading style?

This is a fun question and it really isn’t a simple one I think the answer will be different depending on who you ask. If you ask people who knew when I first started reading back in the seventh grade they say my reading is urban fiction and they will tell you that I lived on Teri Woods books.

Now I’ve graduated to different books and I hardly even read urban fiction anymore they all seem the same to me now.

Now if you ask anyone who knows me they will tell you anything paranormal is on the menu for me. The people in my book club will tell you that I read paranormal romance, science fiction, young adult books, anything with sexy werewolves in it, and honestly anything that's good.

The one book series think about when they think of me and books is the Harry Potter series. Everyone knows that I love those books.

Self's Blossom Review

Self’s Blossom
David Russell
Contemporary Romance
Publisher by eXtasy Books
ISBN: 2-940-01113-662-7
November 20, 2010
Overall Rating: 3.5/5

A romantic, erotic tale of a vivid portrayal of the quest for the inner truth, empowerment and sexual liberation of Selene, a woman searching for primeval abandon and reckless adventure. Intelligent, a university graduate and a successful careerist, Selene became emotionally scarred by unhappy relationships. Riled and taunted through the years by her former college roommate Janice, Selene gave in to the long-term desire to get one back at Janice by having a passionate holiday encounter.

Immediately drawn to the sea and enthralled by its brutal yet sensual waves, Selene seduces a young boy on a deserted beach. Once she comes to meets the mature and powerful Hudson, Selene finally begins to claim her sensual destiny. Through a slow process, accentuated by Selenes shyness, introspection and circumspection, she embarks on a long and elaborate interplay of leading on and rejection. The volcanic passion builds until there is a blazing row. A possible drowning, the final ritual undressing at long last, leads to the ultimate flowering of the woman Selene was meant to be.

This book was a little different from what I usually read, I say this because there was very little dialogue and no real events. Though it made you sit down and think and it was really well written, it just wasn’t the book for me. I did find the blur and the cover of the book to be a little misleading. That isn’t to say it wasn’t good.

My feelings about this book were mixed I liked it and didn’t at the same. The book was more of Selene’s memories and I didn’t really care for that I wanted more present than past. Selene wants to get away and live in the now but I found that she didn’t actually do that she over thought everything and never really did anything. To me Selene wasn’t her own woman it seemed she was more out to prove something to her old roommate Janice who wasn’t even there and I didn’t see the point.

I will say this, the book was rich with description and the details just flowed in a way that you can actually envision yourself on vacation. What I did like was the fact that Selene was human that she stood up and let herself be seen flaws and all.

{Disclaimer: I received a free PDF copy of this book by the author for an honest review. All opinions presented here are my own.}

“You’re Jehovah’s Witnesses?”

They nodded.

This could be a good thing. Maybe they knew something I didn’t. “Perfect. Let me ask you, “I said as the younger one in black let her gaze wander over my attire, which consisted of a Blue Oyster Cult T-shirt that advised people not to fear the reaper and a pair of plaid boxers, “as Jehovah’s Witnesses, what exactly have you witnessed?”
