Catherine Boyd will do anything to regain custody of her young son . . . Even reconcile with the husband accused of killing their son's twin. Catherine graduates from college, eager to start a new life with her six-year-old son, Drew. But when she tries to bring him home, her parents refuse to relinquish control of the grandson they'd raised.

Wrongly accused of a horrible crime, Thomas Boyd has buried himself in his career, determined to forget his painful past and the family he lost. But now, five years later, Catherine is back, requesting his help to regain custody of their son - custody he thought she had. Though older and wiser, when courtroom battles reveal lies and secrets and generations of pain, will Thomas and Catherine find more tragedy and loss, or will old wounds finally heal?

Holy crap was this book not what I was expecting. For some reason I thought this was going to be a cute fluffy book about two people coming back together to get their son back. But damn if that wasn’t what I read. Catherine was someone that wanted to hug and tell that everything would be okay. I also wanted to do the same for Thomas, they had to face things that no one should ever have to go through. While it broke them both in some ways and broke them up as a couple it also made them stronger.

Catherine is a mother who thought she was doing the right thing by her child. Thinking she gave her parents temporary guardianship of her son while she went to school, she finished school and got a job, got her life together so she could be the best mother for Drew. She found that she was tricked and actually gave up her rights to her son. So she reached out to her son’s father and estranged husband and went to court to get their child back.

Thomas having been burned by Catherine and her family before in the past believed he couldn’t trust her not to do so again but he knew their son would be better with the mother who loved him with her whole soul instead of her heart-less parents. But they both knew that after four years apart it was going to be hard to prove that they were a loving couple.

He Belongs To Me grabbed me and didn’t let go until the end, it was heartfelt, emotional, strong, it made a bold statement. It was so realistic, you could almost feel the couples pain leap from the pages. What I really loved was that just when you thought you knew what was gonna happen it turned you were wrong and it left your jaw on the floor. It was funny in all of the right places and strong and intense in others. Way before Catherine and Thomas were lovers they were friends, they had a deep and meaningful relationship. Once they came back together they had to work on rebuilding that trust and in the end it made their relationship much better and stronger.

This was a great read, the story was solid and well written. It was everything you wanted in a book. It was shocking and had me tearing up. I want to tell you more but I won’t give anything away. So read it.
