Tearing
down the street at 80 miles per hour. Running through the dark after armed
robbery suspects. Seeing a man get shot dead in front of my eyes. These are all things I experienced during my
twenty-one year career as an LAPD officer.
Not everyone is cut out to be a police officer, but many people want
that sense of excitement, that shot of adrenaline, the heart-pounding danger.
That’s
why I write romantic suspense and suspense stories. My characters bring authentic crime and
arresting stories to life. Readers not
only experience what it’s like to wear a badge, but also feel the emotional
toll police work takes on a cop’s soul while laughing along with the gallows
humor some officers possess.
While
readers want all the excitement of police work, they want to know about the
personal side of cops as well. When it
comes to romance and sex, many cops are experts – of course, they’ve paid for
their education through their many divorces! Can you imagine strangers throwing
themselves at you because of the uniform you wear? How do you spend more time with your police
partner than you do your spouse and not have a special bond? How often does that danger-initiated
adrenaline rush turn to heart-pounding romance? A lot - I’m married to a cop.
I
love to write romantic suspense because I get to weave thrilling stories that
put readers in the center of the action and the romance – all from the safety
of their recliner.

I already have Kathy Bennett's book so I won't enter the contest. I would like to say, however, I've heard many of her stories from her years on the force. She does a great job pulling inspiration from those stories and adding twists of her own to create some high-wire tension suspense. I'm looking forward to her next book!
