This week is: Top
Ten Things That Will Make Me Instantly Want To Read A Book
1. Shifters
Of any kind. If there is a book
about shifters you better believe I’m picking it up. Be it, wolves, tigers,
bears, rabbits, lions, hyenas, jackal, badger, coyotes etc.
2. Those not so mainstream supernatural
characters
I like seeing what kind of
characters and powers authors can come up with. Examples, gargoyles demons, reapers,
mermaids, sirens, fae (faeries) people who can control the elements, or time,
people who teleport, etc.
3. Dragons
Seriously who doesn’t love a good
dragon book.
4. Play on Greek mythology
It doesn’t matter if the
characters are children, descendants, or the Greek gods themselves, sign me up.
5. Lots of tattoos on a cover
I am a lover of tattoos, so if the
cover of the book has some model with bad ass tattoos, I’m picking it up.
6. Romances about older women and
younger men
Don’t misunderstand me everyone
involved must be an adult but there is something about a younger men loving an older women . I won’t say they are cougars because I’m not really
a fan of name.
7. Strippers
I’m not even sure why with this
one but if I notice the main character is a stripper, I’m already interested.
8. Non-mainstream characters
I am a huge fan of when the main
characters in books aren’t what is considered “mainstream”, I like when the
main characters are more like me or the people I know. When they represent the different
people around me. Example would be people of color and not the stereotypical
gangbanger, smart Asian nerd, loud Latina. LGBT, people of other religions or
no who follow no religion, etc.
9. Non-standard marriage
I’m a sucker for stories about Fake
dating, arranged marriages, contract marriages, or when the characters wake up
married.
10. Certain authors
There are authors who just seeing their names
on the cover will have me totally interested in the book before I even know
anything else about it. Those authors are
·
Shelly
Laurenston
·
Nalini
Singh
·
Jennifer
L. Armentrout
·
Darynda
Jones
·
Rick
Riordan
·
Ilona
Andrews
